The complaint made against Sailor Bingo was regarding the freeplay bingo games that were advertised in a recent television advertising campaign, the advertisement stated that new account holders could receive a freeplay of £20 once a deposit of £10 had been made.

The complainant felt that the advertisements were misleading and that there were terms and conditions attached to the offer that restricted withdrawals for account holders.
However luckily for Sailor Bingo the Advertising Standards Authority found that there was no case to be answered and that the online bingo site had tried to make the terms and conditions very clear to online bingo players who were interested in the special free bingo play offer.
The ASA said on their site yesterday about the adjudication ‘the ad under CAP (Broadcast) TV Advertising Standards Code rules 5.1.1, 5.1.2 and 5.1.3 (Misleading advertising) but did not find it in breach’, to see a full copy of the adjudication follow the link.
Sailor Bingo for their part do not now have to remove their television adverts as some have done previously who have had the decision go in favour of the complainant.
This is excellent news for Sailor Bingo but also for the online bingo industry as a whole as it shows that they will not have the book thrown at them every time they release an advert and that sometimes common sense does prevail after all!
